Water Wasser Eau

Bad Kissingen under the waters. Every year the gardens are floated. During winter the town never escapes the under water period.

Bad Kissingen connaît des inondations tous les ans pendant l’hiver. La ville n’y échappe jamais.

Jedes Jahr ist Bad Kissingen überschwemmt. Kein Winter ohne das der Park unter Wasser steht.

Hiking trip Kreuzberg

Every time we come to our home in Bavaria, we take the time for a hiking trip to the Kreuzberg. This time it was magical to walk through the white woods. Snow had transformed the landscape into a new world. It was kind of rediscovering this well known path.

You can distinguish the snow on the summit. On the parking lot the meadows are still green.

As we climb and get higher, the snow gets thicker.

After 2 hours walking in the snow and the cold air, it’s wonderful to eat a hot lentils soup.

Ice sculptures …

Inoui got a winter coat. He’s so proud!

Trip to the Kreuzberg

Every time we stay at our home we make a hiking tour to the Kreuzberg. It’s a kind of ritual.

Inoui loves the departure. In the background you can distinguish the Kreuzberg.

There’s this really high antennae on the top.

Autumnal season is fabulous. The trees are changing colour and nature looks just fabulous.

I never get tired of photographing mushrooms. They are totally stunning plants.

Hahaaaaa top in sight.

The autumnal sunlight adds a special touch.

Well earned treats.

Rakoczy Fest 2017

Every last weekend of July Bad Kissingen hosts the Rakoczy Fest. The festival lasts during 3 days. The highlight is the parade on Sunday and finishing the festival with big fireworks in the evening. The festival tells part of the city’s life as a cultural and health center of Germany in the 19th century. A lot of princes, military and other important celebrities came to Bad Kissingen to get benefit of the healing sources. Today the city is still known as a medical spot and is appreciated nationwide.

Kissinger Hütte

Tonight hubby invited me for a lovely diner on the summit of the Feuerberg. I appreciate so much the rustic interior of this pub. The meals are simple yet delicious. It’s typical Bavarian dishes.

Hiking trip Rhön

You can do amazing hiking trips here in the North of Bavaria. The highest summits almost reach 1000m altitude.

We did a fabulous trip starting right off from our house in Stangenroth, climbing up to the Schwarze Berge, first stop at the Würzburger Haus, then in the shadows of the woods to the Kissinger Hütte. Big break well earnt with beer, Obazda (bavarian cheese dish) and a meat/cheese salad for hubby. The way back to Stangenroth is eaaaaasyyyyyy ….. Down down down….. No more climbing 😁

Unterfranken Bavaria 2

My last post showed you Bad Kissingen by night. 🌙

Today I would like to take you to the mountains : Rhön.

Wonderful roads take you to the top and you will discover amazing beauties.

A place to visit are the highland swamps. There are wooden trails to discover in all security those amazing landscapes.

After the swamp, you should definitely take a trip into the past. There are still remainings of the border which separated the two German nations until 1989.

Don’t miss an amazing vegan sausage and some coffee.

Unterfranken Bavaria 1

Unterfranken is the region of Bavaria I was born. It’s amazing how much variety of landscapes and architectural beauties you can discover. If you like food, tou will find a wide range of salty and sweet dishes.

On the road we always stop at Waldmohr, nice halt on the highway to get a cup of coffee and a light meal. Furthermore, you can go for a walk in the woods behind the snack. Still more interesting when you got a dog.

As usual, we stay in our holiday home in Stangenroth. You can easily rent a B&B or a nice hotel room.

Bad Kissingen is the biggest town! It’s called Weltbad which means World thermal station. 🌈

Regentenbau seen from the Rosengarten.

Next to the fountain, on the left is a walk with numerous cafe’s and small shops. Our preferred icecream parlour : Da Vito

Coffee is equally amazing.

In the evening the fountain displays a wonderful rainbow coloured show.

The Kurpark (gardens for the ) is quiet in the evening. It’s beautiful to walk along the river Saale and take a peek into the shop’s windows.

A week in Unterfranken

And we continue in small romantic roads until the small village Morlesau

Next stop was the romantic village of  Gräfendorf

Another stop in Gemünden where the river Sinn joins the river Saale.

Time for a treat

Now that we are revived, we are ready to climb up to the remainings of the ancient fortress Scherenburg

Bats are welcome in the Scherenburg

On the road back home we discover the lovely valley of the river Sinn and its wild lilies. Imagine thousands of lilies covering the meadows.
